Dump Truck Insurance

Dump truck insurance is rated on how the truck is used, not just what it is: axle count, the material you haul, whether you work job sites or public roads, and the radius you run. Our agency writes single dump trucks and small dump fleets for hire, including tandem, tri-axle, end dump and transfer configurations, from a licensed office in Las Vegas.

What drives your rate

  • Axle configuration: single, tandem, tri-axle and quad rate differently because of weight and rollover exposure.
  • Material hauled: aggregate, dirt, sand, asphalt, demolition debris.
  • Radius: local job-site work versus regional hauling.
  • Whether you run for hire, as a subcontractor, or under your own contracts.
  • Driver records and years with a CDL.
  • Truck value and age for physical damage.
  • Garaging ZIP and where the work happens.

How it works

  1. Step 1: Tell us the truck and the work

Axles, material, radius, USDOT number, drivers.

  2. Step 2: We quote carriers that write dump operations

Not every trucking carrier does. A licensed agent picks the ones that do.

  3. Step 3: Bind and file

Federal or Nevada intrastate filing submitted with the policy.

This page is for for-hire dump truck operations. Dump trucks owned by a contractor and used only on its own jobs are written differently; call us and we will point you the right way.

Questions carriers ask

Does a dump truck that never leaves Nevada need a federal filing?

If you never cross state lines and haul only intrastate, federal BMC-91 filings do not apply. Nevada's intrastate requirements through the Nevada Transportation Authority do.

Is cargo insurance required for hauling dirt or aggregate?

Not by federal rule. Some general contractors and municipalities require it in the contract. Ask for the contract's insurance section and we will match it.

Can you insure a dump truck with a dump trailer?

Yes. The trailer is listed on the same policy for liability and can be added for physical damage.
